2021 Patreon Membership Drive: Become a Kinky Patron

We had this idea in 2020 for a “membership drive” in Patreon to help increase our membership, and it was such a success that we’re doing it again this year! Here’s what you need to know — whether you’re a current member or someone who’s heard us mention it countless times but you’re still on the fence.

Why a Membership Drive

We love making videos and recording podcasts, but let’s be real — it takes a lot of time and effort. As a kink channel, we’re not rolling in sweet, sweet YouTube ad money. Our podcast episodes (to this point) have had limited sponsorships. To say this is a labor of love is an understatement. Yes, we create content without getting paid, but we also know we can do so much more with financial support.

We set specific goals for what we want to do with Loving BDSM, and all of those goals require money, time, or both. With our kinky patrons help, we have achieved those goals. In 2020, we said if we reached 100 members, we would use the extra funds to help put good closed captions on our new (short) YouTube videos each week. And we have.

After our 12-episode mini-podcast effort in 2020, we heard from plenty of kinksters who want more of it. We want to give it to you, but we need time and/or money to do it. When we reach our goal of 200 patrons (on average) each month, we will commit to a weekly short podcast episode in addition to our long weekly episode.

These are just some of the reasons we work so hard to grow our Patreon community.

January always feels like a good time for a new or fresh start. Especially after a year like 2020. While we hope kinky folks will join us at any time of year, we put a little extra effort in during January — extra perks and this year (for the first time) a potential discount.

2021 Kinky Patron Membership Drive

Okay, so that’s nice and all, but what do you get as a kinky patron? A lot of that depends on the tier you select but all members receive the same basic perks:

• Access to a patron-only Discord server
• Early access to videos before they go live on YouTube
• Monthly behind-the-scenes podcast episodes
• Monthly Q&A live streams where we answer kinky patron questions
• Special discounts at the Kinkery (better than our sales and good all year long)

You can join at the $2 per month level and get all of that. If you choose a higher level, you get a little bit more:

$5 tier helps suggest new topic ideas for videos and podcast episodes

$10 tier gets the $5 tier perk and can ask their questions early for the Q&A so they’re guaranteed an answer, even if they can’t be there live

$25 tier gets $5 and $10 tier perks plus they get credited as patrons in podcasts and videos (in the show notes, description box, end screens).

Join us or maintain membership in January 2021, and you’ll receive special Loving BDSM stickers in February. Yes, this is open to everyone, including international members. The designs of the stickers are being finalized — follow us on Twitter or Instagram or watch the podcast on YouTube in January to see them when they’re ready — but every tier will receive them. How many stickers you receive is based on your tier.

• $2 tier: one sticker
• $5 tier: two stickers
• $10 tier: three stickers
• $25 tier: four stickers

We’ll have four designs, so the top tier will get all of them. These are exclusive to Loving BDSM. We don’t know if we’ll give them away again or if we’ll ever sell them over at The Kinkery but if we do, it won’t be anytime soon.

But wait, there’s more…

Because Patreon gives us this option, we decided to add one more extra perk for those who want to take advantage of it. If you join as an annual member (instead of paying monthly), you’ll get two months free when you join in January. Any other time of year, you get one month free. This means you’ll pay for 10 months of access up front, but you’ll be a member for the entire year.

We don’t expect everyone to join as an annual member, and we know it’s more difficult to do at the higher tier, but if it works with your. budget, it’s there to use. Patreon doesn’t allow us to offer discounts for monthly membership or we would do that, too.

Why Does Becoming a Kinky Patron Matter?

When you become a kinky patron, you directly help us do the work we do. For every dollar we earn from our supporters, that’s one less dollar we need to earn from outside work. That means we can spend that much more time answering DMs, creating content, and helping kinksters have happy, healthy power exchange relationships. .

We know not everyone can join our Patreon community. It’s why we’re committed to keeping most of our educational content free. But those who choose to join help us keep making the content that (we hope) helps everyone who finds it. In exchange, we try to offer extra support and a strong sense of community.
