Introducing 2021 Kinky Book Club
Back in 2017 and 2018, the years of the now-defunct membership community we hosted for a brief moment in time, we offered a Kinky Book Club for members who love to read. The idea was to read a book during the month and come together to discuss it. When the site imploded (a tech issue that still gives me anxiety to think about), we let the book club die, too. After teasing it in several podcast episodes and live streams in 2020, we’re bringing it back for 2021!
Here’s how it will work this time.
How the 2021 Kinky Book Club Will Work
We’re keeping it super simple this time. The 2021 Kinky Book Club (KBC) list is out and available right now. Why? So people have time to buy/borrow and read the books! Plus we know not everyone will join in every month, so this gives fellow-readers time to plan. We will definitely promote upcoming books each month so don’t worry about memorizing the list.
Each month, we’ll read the book of the month. At the end of the month, a video will go live on our YouTube channel. We’ll use the Premiere function so we can chat with people who watch the video when it goes live to talk about the book. Plus, people who watch later can also leave comments and we’ll chat there, too! Subscribe to the channel so you can join in: YouTube.com/LovingBDSM.
During the month, members of our Patreon Community (#proudcrickets) will have access to a book club channel on our Patron-only Discord server where we’ll chat about the book as we read it! We have six non-fiction books and six fiction books. In the non-fiction books, we chose BDSM basics (topping and bottoming), communication, community, and two deep-dive kind of books. Of the fiction books, we chose two graphic novels, two fiction novels, and two anthologies. All but one book is currently available in ebook and not just print. Four books are available as audiobooks. We also tried to include a diverse range of perspectives and voices. Our hope is that even if you’re not interested in every book, there will be something here that piques your interest!
