2023 Patreon Membership Drive: Are You a Proud Cricket?

For the fourth year in a row, we’re back with another Patreon Membership Drive to (hopefully) give folks who can afford it a good reason to join us over on Patreon.

2021 was a literal dumpster fire but 2022 said, “Hold my beer.” Which caused us to go into a bit of hibernation on some levels.

We had to stop making so much content — and some of it wasn’t quite as fun as it had once been, so there’s that.

We spent a lot of time growing the Kinkery (which is both the most amazing thing and the scariest thing we’ve ever done, lol) but it meant we had less bandwidth for everything else, including our focus over here. And we definitely felt it. If not for our proud cricket community in Patreon, I’m not sure what we would have done.

So while we felt like we were dialing it in, it was Patreon that kept us connected and energized.  Which means that we will continue to take care of our kinky patrons as much as they take care of us (or at least try to).

Now that the new year is here, we’re not buying into the “new year, new us” bullshit but we do feel energized again. Ready to try new things and get out of our comfort zone a bit. all while helping our existing community and the new-to-us kinksters who find us. And, as always, the reason we can do that is because of Patreon.

We keep our educational/helpful content mostly free because we know not everyone can afford to pay for it. Patreon memberships make that possible.

So…let’s talk about this year’s Membership Drive and what you get all year long if you decide to join our kinky community.

When You Join Us on Patreon…

We try to give as much as we receive. Anything less feels weird to us. Our goal is to offer enough value to make a Patreon membership worth the expense.

Everyone who joins gets extra content and access:

• Discord server for kinky patrons only: It’s a safe space of people who simply want to hang out with and learn from fellow kinksters. Our main rule: Don’t be an asshole. So far, no one has.
• Monthly live stream Q&A: It’s a cross between a Q&A episode and a hangout because we chit-chat and answer your kink questions. Some questions lead straight to Kayla Rants™.
• Behind-the-scenes podcast: We talk about the business side of things — what we’ve been doing and what we’re working on; crickets are the first to know about new ideas. We also talk about our personal life in ways we don’t always share in podcast episodes.
• NEW THIS YEAR: Exclusive monthly videos: These are fun videos that aren’t meant to be educational but will (hopefully) be entertaining.
• Discounts to the Kinkery and the Loving BDSM Etsy shop: These are deep discounts we don’t offer anyone else.

Picking a Membership Tier

We offer five tiers as of 2023. If you choose anything above the $2/month tier, you get extra perks.

$2 tier (Proud Cricket): You’re officially a proud cricket! You get everything listed above!

$5 tier (Curious Crickets): You get everything above plus the ability to ask questions before the Q&A each month. This means that your question will definitely get answered, even if you can’t be at the live stream. (You can watch the video later to get the answer.)

$10 tier (Game Night Crickets): You get everything the $5 tier gets plus you can join us for a bi-monthly online game night (NEW THIS YEAR)! We might play card games, online board games, or something else. We’ve had some great suggestions from the community already!

NEW THIS YEAR $15 tier (Business Crickets): If you’re a kinky maker who sometimes sells your stuff as a side hustle or you’re a kinky business owner making (or trying to make) a livable income, this tier is for you! You get everything in the lower tiers plus access to a quarterly Zoom call where we’ll talk business. In our Discord server, there’s also a channel devoted to kinky business conversations. This tier is meant to help both other makers/business owners and us. We wanted a place to talk about things we’ve learned and experienced and to share resources and info.

Your business doesn’t have to be kink or sex-focused. If you’re kinky and you run a business, you’re a kinky business owner. That being said, kink and sex focused businesses do face challenges that vanilla businesses don’t and some of the conversations may focus on that.

$25 tier (Chatty Crickets): We know not everyone can do this one, and that’s okay. You get everything in the $10 tier (or the $15 tier if you’re also a kinky business owner) plus every three months that you’re in this tier, you’ll get an invite to a Zoom call to just hang out. We might discuss a topic, as suggested by members, or we might just chill and say hi. No one who joins has to use their camera or even their mic (lurkers are always welcome).

2023 Membership Drive

Okay, so that’s what we offer on Patreon during the year. What’s so special about the Membership Drive?

This is the one time a year we offer extra goodies. Think of us as a nicer, more benevolent (but kinkier) witch enticing adult Hansel and Gretel into our sweet, sweet kinky house.

The membership drive runs from January 1 to February 15, 2023.

If you become a member (or stay a member) during that time, you’ll receiving goodies in the mail (more merch!) in March. What you get depends on the tier you choose:

• $2 – $10 tier: Proud cricket art print (a small one – either 4×6 or 5×7)
• $15 – $25 tier: Keep it kinky y’all enamel pin

When you sign up for a monthly membership, you can change tiers based on your budget at any point. So if you want a certain goodie, make sure you’re in that tier as of February 15! But if you don’t want to spend that much every month, feel free to drop down to a lower tier afterwards.

Annual Membership Discount

We offer annual membership through Patreon, too. The rest of the year, you get a one-month free discount if you choose annual membership. That means you pay upfront for the entire year (pay for 11 months, get 12 months of access).

During the membership drive (January 1 through February 15), we increase the discount for annual membership. You get TWO months free if you sign up during that time. So you pay for 10 months upfront and get 12 months of access. 

The only downside is that it’s very difficult to switch tiers. But it’s great if you don’t want to worry about a monthly payment.

Why Join Our Kinky Community?

Well, we think we’re a bunch of super chill, super fun, super cool kinksters. So there’s that.

If you’re a bonus section junkie, you get more of that vibe through our Patreon, for sure. It’s more us and a group of other people who think what we do is pretty okay.

We also offer a kink community for folks who haven’t had much luck finding a local community or who want something laid back and a community that offers more than just dating/hook-ups/play partners.

I think we’re a great place for kinksters who recognize that kink and power exchange is just one facet of their life. Yes, it’s an important one (maybe the most important) but there’s still work, caregiving, pets, health, and other parts of life to navigate, too. Hell, in the Discord server, we have just almost as many channels for hobbies and other interests as we do for kink.

In our community, we embrace the kink side and the cosplay/furbaby parent/crafty/gamer/music-lover side of people, too.
